  2. some more research into this. But from what I‚Äôve 
  3. seen in a wonderful recent biography of his, if he 
  4. was homophobic, it was the homophobia of a man 
  5. who was so attracted to other men, that he feared 
  6. in himself, that is, it doesn‚Äôt seem to be to be the 
  7. kind of homophobia of the far right, the kind of 
  8. simple hatred. It‚Äôs a highly complex homophobia, if 
  9. it‚Äôs there. It is a homophobia of a man who‚Äôs 
  10. totally under the control of women. He was under 
  11. the control of very powerful women throughout 
  12. his life, from his mother, to his wife, and so on. So I 
  13. think that it would be quite unfair to just take our 
  14. contemporary term homophobia and transport it
